Kiosk Interface
Overview
This utility links RMS to a Check In Kiosk system.
To use this module the following five (5) steps must be completed.

Important Information
- To use this utility you must be running the latest upgrade version of RMS.
Steps
First Step - Total Tariff
From any screen within RMS 9
Click once on Setup on the Navigation bar
Choose Accounting from the list
Choose Accounting Options from the sub list
Choose the Options Tab
At the bottom of the screen you will find options for 'Create the Tariff', here Create Total Tariff must be selected. this allows the kiosk system to see the total amount due for the guest stay so that the correct payment can be taken.
Second Step - On Res Creation
From any screen within RMS 9
Click once on Setup on the Navigation bar
Choose Accounting from the list
Choose Accounting Options from the sub list
Choose the Options Tab
The option 'On Res creation' must be selected. This tells the RMS system to create the tariff charge onto the reservation account at the time the booking is created and saved. This allows the kiosk system to create the charge and receipt onto a reservation account when a walk in reservation is taken from the Check In Kiosk system.

Third Step - Available to Kiosk
From any screen within RMS 9
Click once on Setup on the Navigation bar
Choose Category/Areas from the list
The option of 'Available to Kiosk' must be activated on for those Categories (Room Types) that you wish the Check In Kiosk system to see.
Edit the first Category you wish to make available to the Kiosk
Tick the option 'Available to Kiosk', then Choose Save/Exit.
Repeat the above steps until each Category has been marked accordingly.
Fourth Step - Tariff Type
This step will tell RMS which Tariff Type you wish to show on your Kiosk system.
Tariff/Availability Chart Rates
From any screen within RMS 9
Click once on Charts on the Navigation bar
Choose Tariff/Availability Chart from the list
Choose Tariff Types button (bottom right of the screen)
Edit the Tariff Type you wish to show to your kiosk system
Traditional Rates
From any screen within RMS 9
Click once on Setup on the Navigation bar
Choose Per Night Tariff (Lookup) from the list
Choose Tariff Types from the sub list
Edit the Tariff Type you wish to show to your kiosk system
Place a tick in the option named 'Rack Rate', then choose Save/Exit.
Fifth Step - Activating the Kiosk Module
RMS Cloud Customers
On a computer that runs 24/7 in order to communicate with the Check In Kiosk system.
- Create a folder named Kiosk on the C drive of this computer
- You will need to have 2x installed on this computer using the details provided by RMS Technical Support for the connection properties.
- Once entered you will see an icon for RMS Kiosk in the tools folder, double-click this icon to run. Then minimize this screen to your system tray.
- To run the module Double click on the RMS Kiosk icon. This utility must run 24/7 in order to communicate with the Check In Kiosk system.
NOTE: Your Kiosk software will need to be configured to monitor C:\Kiosk on the same machine for the RMS interface files
Self Hosted Customers
- Copy and Paste the RMS for Windows desktop icon
- Edit the new icon and
- Change the target to be "C:\Program Files\RMSWIN\RMS.exe"_/c (where _ is the space bar).
- Rename the new icon to be RMS Kiosk.
- Access the RMS INI file, contact RMS support for the password
- Add the below to the end of the INI file, then save and exit the INI file

To run the module Double click on the RMS Kiosk icon. This utility must run 24/7 in order to communicate with the Check In Kiosk system.
